Jamal and Waffles

I had decided as a side project, to create a series of pieces taken from interviewing children concerning any possible imaginary friends they had. I had heard some pretty weird stories on the subject. While waiting for a doctor’s appointment I was sitting in the waiting room and a young mother and her son sat down.  He looked to be about five or six. He was not happy having to sit quietly and began to skip around the room, much to his mother’s frustration. When he went around the corner and headed my way I asked him what he was doing. He said he was chasing bank robbers, he was the sheriff. I nodded. I asked him what kind of a horse he was riding, he said a dinosaur with red eyes and horns. I nodded. When I asked the dinosaur’s name, he quickly announced “Waffles” with a smile that was almost as big as he was.
