Picnic

An account of how the famous surrealist painter Rene Magritte composed his pictures was that he had three jars with scraps of paper in them: environment, characters engaged in an activity, and outside influences or odd situations. He would draw a slip of paper randomly from each jar until he got the idea for a composition. I chose a magazine, opened it up to random pages, and blindly placed my finger somewhere on the page. The results were: picnic by the sea, blindfolded, tortoise, predatory fish, and blue gown. This piece is the result of that experiment.
